In Celebration of

Violet M. Koussaya (née Shatilla)

August 30, 1923 -  December 15, 2018

On Saturday, December 15th, 2018, after a long and courageous battle, our sweet Violet has passed away. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, she was the devoted daughter of Habib and Freda Shatilla.

Violet is deeply mourned by her children Bobby (Monique), and Karen, grandchildren Jennifer (Phil) and Romy and her 3 great grandchildren Harrison, Vivienne and Emmett. As well, she leaves to mourn her brother in law, Eddie Koussaya and many nieces and nephews who she loved so and was loved by. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Romeo, her 2 sons, Ronnie and Paul and her sisters Rosine (Shatilla) and Doreen (Zakaib).

Our family is most grateful to her caregivers, who over the past years have treated Violet as their own mother. Also, we extend our gratitude to the staff of 2 east at Vigi DDO for their wonderful care and support.

All who knew Violet were touched by her loyal, steadfast and everlasting friendship. She never wavered in her belief that kindness to all is the most fundamental of values.

Visitation will be held at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2P9 on Thursday, December 20th, 2018, from 10 am to Noon followed by the service.

Karen - I am absolutely devastated by the loss of your mother and my "aunt". I have such wonderful and fond memories of her during our "growing up" years. She was so kindhearted and warm - you could feel her love down to your bones. While I will miss her dearly, I can only imagine what you must be going through. Please know she, and you, are in my thoughts and prayers and may her memory be eternal. May God bless you and the family and please accept my deepest condolences.
With love, always - Carolyn Aziz

Steve and I extend our heartfelt condolences to all of Violet's family and loved ones. Steve's memories extend back to the days of feeling welcomed into her home when Mrs. Delisle and Huguette were part of the family. We are going back more than six decades.
Violet leaves a legacy of love, of acceptance, of kindness, and also of resilience and inner strength , a woman who was deeply loved and admired by all who were lucky enough to have her in their lives.
She will be deeply missed.
