In Celebration of

Steve Szabad

November 11, 1934 -  January 26, 2021

On Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 Steve departed this earth leaving behind his sisters, Linda Szabad-Smyth and Helen Small (nee Szabad).
Steve was quite accomplished as a refrigeration and heating mechanic for Black & McDonald. His first love though was for cars in the 50s and 60s. As a founding member of the Piston Poppers Auto Club in Montreal that staffed the SanAir and Napierville drag strips, Steve performed the duties of starter, manning the light trees.
In the 70s he discovered aviation, purchasing a 1940 Piper J4A which he had to restore while working on his pilot’s license. He flew out of St Lazare QC till 1982 when he purchased a farm that he quickly converted to his private airstrip so his pilot friends could fly in for coffee on weekends.
All along Steve had a hidden gem in his garage since the early 60s. In 2018 he finally restored his 1930 Ford Model A Coupe with help from his buds in the Eazy Cruisers Street Club.
Steve had a very full life in his 86 years. He will be dearly missed by his two sisters, nieces and nephew.
