In Celebration of

Stella Matichuk, née Dachuk

December 18, 1930 - March 20, 2023

Stella Matichuk is the second of four daughters to parents Justin Dachuk (d: 1974) and Anastasia (Nellie) Woloskowska (d: 1996). She was born in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, where her family lived for a short time before making a home on Sanguinet Street, on the east side of downtown Montreal. Home was important to Stella, managing her duplex on 35th Avenue in Rosemount, Montreal, for nearly 70 years, where she and her husband, Alfred Matichuk (d: 1988), raised their family of three children, Diane, Ronald, and Lorraine (d: 2020).

Stella leaves us her cherished life stories stemming from joyous family gatherings, her love of the city she navigated with ease, mostly at a brisk walk, and working with passion for a catering company that hosted large parties and events, often alongside her younger sisters, Annie and Mary. She is predeceased by her older sister, Olga.

She will be remembered by her children, Diane (Douglas) and Ronald (Christiane) as we embrace the memory of Lorraine, her four grandchildren, Thomas, Michael (Kathryn), Erica (Vince), and Andrew, her three great grandchildren, Amelia, Mateo, and Lily, and her sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Stella Matichuk will be interred in the family plot at the Mount Royal Cemetery. A burial is planned for Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00 am, followed by a celebration of life.
