In Celebration of

Robert Laforest

April 7, 1935 - January 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Robert ”Bobbie” Laforest, surrounded by the love of his life Mavis and his children.
He was an amazing father to Bruce (Johanne), Robin (Steve), Todd (Lynn), Donna (Scott), Greg, Lynne (Danny),
grandfather to 13 and great grandfather to 9.
Born in Rimouski, Quebec to Henriot Laforest and Wanda Finkbiener, Bobbie moved to Park Extension in Montreal with his family which included 2 older brothers, Ronnie and Jackie (both predeceased) when he was very young. That is where he met Mavis at an outdoor skating rink when they were both young teenagers and so started a life long love affair.
He was an extraordinary athlete and excelled in hockey and baseball playing hockey for the Montreal Royals and enjoying a stint with the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team. He continued to play and referee hockey until he was 75.
Bobbie and Mavis were married in 1955 and started their family, moving to wonderful Belvedere Park in Pierrefonds in 1960, where they lived in the same home for 58 years. They started a new chapter at Le Cambridge in Pointe Claire for the last 3 years, where they met many new friends and Dad loved to play bridge and military whist.
Bobbie was always busy and always happy and enjoyed a 28 year retirement from Bell Telephone where he worked his whole career.
We are forever grateful for the many years we and Mom had with Dad.
He was the best and we already miss him terribly.
There will not be a funeral as per Dad’s wishes but we will have a celebration of his life this summer, date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Theresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence or Nova in Bobbie’s name would be appreciated.
