In Celebration of

Richard Starck

November 19, 1952 -  July 24, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we had to say goodbye to Richard on July 24, 2019. Loving husband of 36 years and life partner of 44 years to Lilli Kormos. Richard devoted his heart and his life to Lilli and their two daughters, Julia (Shawn and new grandson Leo) and Jessica (Marc). He will be deeply mourned by his family, including sisters, Paddy and Barbara, nephew, Kevin (Emilie), and extended family, Karen, Steve, and Sydney, as well as his longtime close friend, Jamie.

Some are fortunate to heed their calling in life. For Richard, that was the law, being appointed as a judge of the Municipal Court of Montreal in 2010, following a distinguished career as a Crown Prosecutor for over 25 years. Richard will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and colleagues for his sharp wit, engaging sense of humour, and thought- provoking conversations, but most of all for his unconditional love for his family.

A memorial service to commemorate Richard's life will take place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, on Friday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251.

Cher Richard,

It is very sad to realize that you will not be there anymore. You had a great carrier and I will remember you as a very courageous man and a hard worker.
Rest In Peace dear colleague.

I had the pleasure of his company at the same court before my retirement.
We had a common interest: the love of law.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlights on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.

Those we love don't go away
They walk beside us everyday,
Unseen, unheard but ever near
Still loved, still missed,
Still very dear.

When you speak of him, speak not with tears,
For thoughts of him should not be sad.
Let memories of the times you shared give you
comfort, for his life was rich because of you.
