In Celebration of

Photius Frank Tsonis

January 15, 1932 -  May 15, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Photius Frank Tsonis on May 15, 2021 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Katina Kantza, cherished father of George (Toula) and Nayia, and adored pappou of Francis and Peter.

Born in Evangelismos, Messinias, Greece, he came to Canada at the age of 26 where he shortly thereafter married his high school sweetheart Katina. Hard-working from the very beginning, he soon opened and operated his own grocery store, Outremont Central Market. After many successful years, he then moved on to work in the restaurant industry. He was the consummate provider for his family and made sure that all that he did was with integrity and honesty. He appreciated and respected his family and friends and was also involved in his community. He served as President of the Evangelismos Philanthropic Association and his greatest achievement was spearheading the replacement of the hospital beds of his hometown.

He will always be remembered as a courageous, loving and honourable man.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions, a private service will be held at the Mount-Royal Funeral Complex for close family and friends by invitation only. However, you will be able to attend the funeral in live or replay from Tuesday May 25th 2021 at 11:00 a.m. via the following link: https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/30124

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear Nayia and George,

My sincere condolences on the lost of your dad, so soon after your mom. He was a good man, so welcoming and so eager to please everyone. I will remember him fondly.

Both your parents should be extremely proud of you, of your unconditional love and the selflessness you have shown in caring for them on a daily basis.

All my love
France
