It is with great sadness that we announce that Peter died peacefully at home after a four-month cancer journey.
Beloved husband to Sharon H. Nelson for forty-four years. Survived by his brother Roger (Pam), sister Katharine (Tony) and the nieces and nephews of whom he was infinitely proud: Oliver (Anna), Emily (David), Fiona (Mike), Peter (Devasuda) and Richard (Megan) and their adorable offspring. All of England. Lovingly cared for and dearly missed by his partner, Kathryn Stephens.
Professor Emeritus at Concordia, Peter is also survived by a plethora of former students, colleagues, collaborators and many, many friends.
Peter’s curiosity and creativity remained unabated to the end. He read voraciously. He played piano and enjoyed a game of snooker. He practiced yoga. He relished good food. He loved sailing. He continued work with good friends on two research projects. And he capped off every Saturday with a wee dram of excellent single malt.
Heartfelt thanks to the excellent teams of caring professionals who looked after Peter – both at the Montreal General Hospital and Glen site of the MUHC and at home by the CLSC, NOVA and Mount Sinai Palliative Care teams.
Due to COVID restrictions, the funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation at codelife.ca.
