In Celebration of

Peter Bedard

January 1, 1933 -  May 7, 2019

Surrounded by his family, Peter passed away peacefully on May 7th after a brief illness.

The patriarch of his beloved family, Peter will be deeply missed by his children Wanda, Jeffrey and Michael, by his wonderful daughters-in-law Susan Worth, Christine Lepage and Hélène Martel and his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Liah, Vida, Jeremy, Sasha, Jessica, Alexander and Cassandra and his great grandchildren Finley and Jackson. He was pre-deceased by his eldest son Wayne and his two infant children, Mark and Maria and his most beloved wife Violet De Board. Also predeceased by Yolande Servant Dunne, his longtime companion.

He leaves in sadness his soulmate and partner in adventure, Janice Schneider.

The eldest of 13 brothers and sisters born in Masson, QC, Peter was very proud of his family roots and Irish heritage. Despite an extremely modest upbringing, Peter achieved so much during his long life, in business and in the community through his fierce determination and hard work. From his arrival in Montreal where he started as an apprentice in the metal fabrication trade, Peter built several companies over the years starting with Aluminum Welding in 1961 followed by Bedard Tankers, Bedarco McGruer and others. He was rightly proud of what he had accomplished and loved working with the many, many people he employed over the years. In 1982, he was named Grand Marshall of the St Patrick’s Day parade, an honour he accepted with great pride.

Peter never forgot the importance of giving back to others. His over 50 years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore Montreal meant a great deal to him. The fellowship of the members kept him working hard to support their important projects helping children and families in Montreal.

Bernie, Martin, Richard, Victor, Clarence, Eddie, Therese – his siblings who pre-deceased him and his remaining sisters Bernice, Mary, Rita, Claire and Muriel were integral to everything he did in life. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues who appreciated his support, loyalty, love of life and incredible strength of spirit.

The family will receive the condolences on Monday May 13th, 2019 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Trans-Canada, Senneville, H9X 3L7, 514 457-4440. A funeral Service will be held on Tuesday May 14th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield, QC H9W 3Z8.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Kiwanis Lakeshore Foundation or to your preferred charity.

We are sorry to hear about Peter's passing, and did not know that Wayne had passed away some time ago. We had a few interesting years as business partners 1983-85.
His contributions to Kiwanis were significant and hard to replace.
May he rest in peace.
