It is with profound sadness that the family of Oksana Rusyn announces her peaceful passing at the age of 93 on March 7, 2023. Beloved wife of fifty-seven years of the late Morris Rusyn (1925-2005). Oksana leaves behind her four children and their spouses, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A proud woman of Ukrainian descent, Oksana was a devoted parishioner, much like her late parents, Anylia and Simeon Rudakevich, at Saint Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Montreal. In her youth, Oksana attended Ukrainian school and was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Youth of Canada (CYMK). She was the President of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada “Daughters of Ukraine” Branch for 11 years. She also served as Vice-President and President of the Saint Sophie’s council throughout the 1980s until the early 2000s and was a long-standing member of the Brotherhood Misericordia Christiana. Oksana’s voice could also be heard throughout the years as a member of the ladies and church choirs, along with her presence at many church activities.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at the CHSLD Polonais Marie-Curie-Sklodowska for their kindness and support in recent years.
A funeral service for Oksana will be held in the Mount Royal Funeral Complex (1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont, 514-279-6540) on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly send contributions, in her name, to Saint Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral (http://www.stsophiemontreal.com).
