In Celebration of

Norman Walter Wilson

May 17, 1927 -  December 3, 2020

Died peacefully in his sleep from covid-19 in Pierrefonds, Quebec at age 93.
Beloved Husband of Betty(Howes) and Margaret (d. 2008). Loving Father of Christopher (Debbie), Bill (Dorothy) Step-Dad to Debbie(Doug). Proud Grandfather to Kurt(Aliza), Sarah(Matt), Heather(Ture),Cherished Great-Grandfather to Asha.

Born in Chatham, England. His apprenticeship in Aerospace, interrupted by two years military service in the Royal Tank Regiment, continued in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he met and married Margaret Wilson (nee Stevenson). In 1954, now with two young sons, he emigrated from post-war Britain to growing possibilities in Canada. Settling in St. Laurent, Quebec he worked as an Aerospace Electrical Engineer for Canadair. Other tenures followed including a brief return to the U.K. and thirteen years in Edmonton. Returning to Quebec he finished a distinguished career at his first posting (Canadair now Bombardier). Widowed in 2008 he found love again with Betty Howes(m.2011) and their happy nine year marriage was a wonderful ‘Second Chapter” in his life. A quiet, gentlemanly, compassionate man who rejected his ‘Seen and not Heard’ childhood to raise his sons with warmth and affection. Often heard regaling family with snippets of popular English sing-along tunes or lamenting “Soon be Christmas!” generally starting on Boxing Day; all reflecting his gentle teasing sense of humour. Will be greatly missed by all here and amongst his extended family in the U.K, Australia and Italy. Special thanks to the staff at The West Island Manor for the care given to Betty and Norman in very difficult conditions.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions the family will not be holding a memorial at this time.
A future event will be announced in the coming year.

I met Norman through my best friend Chris....he was Chris's Dad of course! And what a lovely and quintessential 'gentle'man he was. It's easy to see where Chris got his gentle and tolerant nature from. I always felt accepted and relaxed in Norman's presence. He raised two wonderful sons. God Speed Norman. You will be missed.
