Mathilde Hajj (nee Gahel)

July 27, 1943 -  January 12, 2020

Mathilde (Mimi) Hajj (nee Gahel), passed away on January 12, 2020, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mimi was born in Cairo, Egypt and immigrated to Montreal in 1964 where she began her lengthly career with Hydro Quebec.

Mimi was predeceased by her husband Robert Hajj. She leaves behind her beloved sister Gladys, her brother Nabil (Mona) and her companion Robert Massad. Mathilde will forever be cherished by her daughter Miriam (Dino) and her son Gilbert (Pat), along with her granddaughters whom she adored Samantha, Jamie and Abigail. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces Christine, Natalie and Cindy and her nephews Rafy, Richard, Ronald and Rodrique.

Visitations will be held on Sunday January 19th, 2020 from 02:00 to 05:00 and 07:00 to 09:00 and Monday the 20th from 10:00 to 11:00, followed by a Service at Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Trans-Canada Senneville QC H9X 0B2

Family and Friends are welcome to a celebration of Mathilde's life immediately following the service. Refreshments and light snacks will be served.

The Family would like to express their most heartfelt thank you to the MUHC Oncology Department and the West Island Palliative Care for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cedar’s Cancer Society or to the West Island Palliative Care in the form of Gift Cards (i.e. Walmart, Costco, Canadian Tire, Pharmacies or grocery stores). A special collection box will be available at the funeral home for such donations.

Est décédée le 12 janvier 2020, à l’âge de 76 ans, après une bataille courageuse contre le cancer, Mme Mathilde “Mimi” Hajj (née Gahel). Mimi est née au Caire en Egypte et a immigrée à Montréal en 1964, où elle débuta sa longue carrière avec Hydro-Québec.

Elle fut précédée dans la mort par son époux Robert Hajj. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa sœur adorée Gladys, son frère Nabil (Mona) et son compagnon Robert Massad. De plus, sa fille Miriam (Dino), son fils Gilbert (Pat) la chériront pour toujours accompagnés par ses petites-filles qu’elle adorait: Samantha, Jamie et Abigail. Elle manquera également à ses nieces: Christine, Natalie et Cindy, ses neveux: Rafy, Richard, Ronald et Rodrique et par de nombreux parents et amis.

La famille recevra les condoléances le dimanche 19 janvier 2020 de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h, ainsi que le lundi 20 janvier à compter de 9h au Complexe funéraire Belvédère, 22025 RouteTranscanadienne, Senneville, H9X 0B2, 514 457-4440. Une cérémonie en son honneur suivra à 11h.


La famille desire exprimer leur plus sincere remerciement aux équipes du département d’oncologie du CHUM et de la residence des soins palliatifs de l’Ouest de l’Ile pour les soins extraordinaires. Au lieu de fleur, des dons peuvent être faits à la Société du Cancer des Cèdres ou à la Résidence des soins palliatifs de l’Ouest de l’Ile sous forme de cartes cadeaux (eg. Walmart, Costco, Canadian Tire, Pharmacie ou épicerie). Une boîte sera disposée pour accueillir vos dons au salon funéraire.
