Mary Anka Wyad nee Rasmussen

November 18, 1926 - July 30, 2022

With great sadness the family announces the passing of our mother in her 96th year, in Montreal Quebec.
Mary is survived by her four daughters, Mona (Rick) ; Brenda (Mike) ; Karen (Rob) ; Marion (Bob), as well as her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dan in 1985.
Mom was born in Karise, Denmark to Hertha Larsen and Svend Rasmussen and moved to Montreal with her family at the age of 8, where she remained for the rest of her life.
A private family service will be held in Montreal. Personal condolences and memories maybe shared under the Guestbook tab.

Auntie Mary has such a wonderful way about her. Always interested in what I was up to. A ready smile. An unforgettable laugh. A warm and welcoming presence that lit up the room.

When she and Uncle Danny and the four magical cousins visited, it was a treat indeed.

She unfailingly phoned me every year on my birthday. It wasn't really my birthday until Auntie Mary called.

Her goodness, character, discipline, and thoughtfulness made for me a perfect Aunt.

I will remember.

To our dear friends,
We send you our deepest sympathies.

Mary, the matriarch of an incredible clan, was a gentle, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

I will always remember singing Christmas carols with her by the bonfire on New Year’s Eve. The warmth of that night came not only from the fire but from the love of a family willing to share special moments with friends. Mary showed her family how to open their hearts to people and to accept them as they are.

I have only treasured memories of many conversations with her over the years.

With my deepest sympathy and that of my family, we wish that your sorrow be replaced with treasured memories of her.
