In Celebration of

Martin John Done

September 6, 1944 - January 17, 2022

John Done of Westmount, Quebec passed away on January 17, 2022 at the age of 77 after a long illness, stoically borne.

John was born in Chester, England to the late Dennis and Joan Done, and grew up there and in Kenya. After articling as a Chartered Accountant in London he returned to Africa where he met a young Irish nurse, Geraldine Doran. That was the beginning of a love affair of over fifty years. Together they lived in countries all over the world before settling in Montreal where he worked for many years at Canadian Pacific.

John was a loving and dedicated spouse and a true friend to many. He was an avid sportsman, a motor racing fan, a talented photographer, a quirky ceramist, a lover of bad puns, and a hater of chocolate.

John is survived by his wife Geraldine, brothers Jeremy (Beverley Tugwell) and David, sisters-in-law Marion Milmo (the late Sean), Hillary Sexton (Alfie), and Patricia Coleman (Cathal), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jennifer.

Due to the current health situation there will be no service. A private celebration of John's life will be held in the spring. For those who wish to make a memorial donation, please consider AMI - Quebec Action on Mental Illness, St Mary's Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
