In Celebration of
Marilyn Olive Edna Couillard (Wilde)
August 11, 1940 -
November 8, 2021
It is with profound sadness to announce the death of our cherished mother and loving grandmother, Marilyn Olive Edna Couillard (Wilde), on Monday, November 8, 2021.
Born to Lawrence Couillard and Herma Adams on Sunday, August 11, 1940, Marilyn was the youngest of three children following Lillian and Ray. Marilyn grew up on Leclaire Street in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area, where she would always say that she grew up in the best of times surrounded by family and friends. She recounted of many good times at The East-End Boys and Girls Club, tap-dancing, cooking, swimming, movies, and Friday night dances.
Later, Marilyn worked at Bell Canada on Belmont Street where she met her future husband, Charles Wilde, who worked at the nearby Northern Electric. At the age of nineteen, she married and raised their three children, the late Darryl Wilde, Kim (Todd Rourke) and Debra, in South Shore St-Hubert, where the whole family met and made many life-long friendships at The Springfield Park Community Club. Summers were always enjoyed at their cottage in Rawdon, Quebec, with family and friends.
Marilyn worked for over twenty years along with Darryl and Kim at The Bank of Montreal, where she made many special friendships. After retirement, she enjoyed lunch monitoring at Heritage Regional High School. She said the students kept her young.
The relationship Marilyn had with her own mother exceeded the maternal bonds of mother-daughter and overflowed into being the best of friends. Marilyn transferred this same bond to her own children and grandchildren. She was a devoted grandmother to Katelynn, Liam, Lindsay and Amy and she lived for making them feel special.
Marilyn connected with everyone she met and leaves a great void, especially for her daughters with whom she spoke with every day. She will be greatly missed by her loving brother, Ray and her dear sister Lillian (Smith), along with, her nephews, David and Darin Smith, of Atlanta, Georgia. She leaves behind many cousins, family members and friends, especially, Cheryl (Williams) and Richard O’Reilly, Helen (Williams) and John Murphy, and in particular, her “twin-cousin” Beverley Williams (Ray Vokey). Beverley and Marilyn were born only three weeks apart and therefore, celebrated many birthdays together over the years and many family occasions, big and small. We will keep the love we have for Marilyn in our hearts forever.
