In Celebration of

Marietta Fejervary

May 28, 1925 -  November 6, 2020

Marietta passed away peacefully at home in her sleep and is now reunited with her beloved husband Laszlo Fejervary (2003). Marietta leaves behind her only daughter Sophie (James Madon) and grandchildren Charles (Blanche) and Tiffany.

Marietta’s life was fraught with ups and downs; from eluding the Russian invasion of Hungary and escaping to Canada in 1956, to the birth of her daughter and two grandchildren.

She was as elegant and vivacious as she was savvy and determined. Marietta’s joie de vivre was an inspiration to so many people. She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess and amazing cook…. using as many of her beloved herbs as possible in any recipe. Her contributions to the Hungarian community and to the St. Stephens Ball were immeasurable. With her sparkling smile and engaging personality she was the go to person whenever a problem needed solving.

Her love for her only child, Sophie, was clear for all to see and her adoration of her two grandchildren, Charles and Tiffany, was likewise. Mimi and Papa had only one rule when it came to babysitting, they would not babysit more than 6 times a week!

When Marietta passed away, it was not with regret or sadness, she was completely at ease and thanked the good Lord for her rich and satisfying life.

We would like to thank Lori for her incredible care and devotion in the past months.

My parents left behind a full and prosperous life in Budapest, and like so many Hungarians landed in Canada with next to nothing … and like so many Hungarians they gave their children a full and complete life.

Mami, I will miss you forever.
