It is with great sadness that we announce that Marie-Ann Dallas (Copple) Blydt-Hansen, age 77, passed away on March 2, 2021 in Côte-Saint-Luc, Quebec at the Mount Sinai Hospital center, after bravely battling cancer. She was surrounded by family, friends and her favorite candies.
Marie was born on April 24th, 1943 in Montreal, Quebec. She was married to Rolf Blydt-Hansen, in Montreal, on May 16th, 1964. Marie was a teacher, a trusted confidante and lifelong learner. Throughout her life, she was passionate about music, singing and her books. In retirement, she gave generously of her time, volunteering with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Dix Milles Villages. Marie was an integral part of the local Norwegian community and a dedicated member of the Norwegian Association of Montreal.
She is survived by her husband Rolf Blydt-Hansen of Côte-Saint-Luc; her brother Peter Copple, her three sons, Eirik (Peggy Blydt-Hansen), Tom (Alison Elliott) and Robert (Sonia Therrien); her seven grandchildren, Christian, Sean, Nicholas, Ingrid, Mackenzie, Kayla and Kevin as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Alan Copple and Margaret (Ovenden) Copple.
A private family committal service will be held at Mount Royal cemetery on March 11, 2021. The funeral and memorial service to celebrate Marie Blydt-Hansen’s life, will be scheduled at a later date. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at the Mount Sinai hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
