In Celebration of

Maria Rudnewa Simonenko

December 25, 1917 -  July 10, 2018

With a heavy heart, the Simonenko family announce the death of their mother, and Babushka Maria Rudnewa Simonenko on July 10 at the age of 100. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike (Mikhail) and all of her numerous siblings. Maria will be deeply missed by her four devoted children, Tammy (John), Uric (Francie), George (Dale) and Gerry. She also leaves to mourn her four beloved grandchildren, Lena, Natasha, Daniel (Sabrina) and Adam.
Maria will be remembered for her rock solid strength, having led her family from war ravaged Europe to a new start in Canada. They docked at Pier 21 Halifax, speaking neither official language, nor having money and carrying just a few belongings. After making their way to Montreal, the young family planted their roots and went on to build a successful life, thanks to their mother’s determination.
Very special thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital. The doctors and nurses of the Emergency Room, the Surgical Unit and ICU displayed outstanding compassion, and competent care. They could not have done more.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday July 17th, from 9:00 to 12:00; 13:00 to 16:00; and 17:00 to 20:00 at:
The Mount Royal Funeral Complex
1297 Chemin de la Foret
Outremont, Québec H2V 2P9

The funeral will be held in the Chapel of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex on Wednesday, July 18th at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice.
Rest in peace, Mom; you will be profoundly missed.
