In Celebration of

Maria Golanowski nee Jancewicz

February 4, 1944 -  May 19, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our "Babcia" on May 19th at the age of 77 years. Maria Jancewicz Golanowski was dearly loved by her children, grandkids, extended family, and friends.

Born in Gleboki Szarkowczyzna, Poland, she came to Canada with her family in the early 60s. She met Jan Golanowski and they were married on December 28th, 1963. Together they had four children, before her husband Jan was tragically taken in 1981. Although she didn't have the easiest life, she persevered and remained positive. She was a generous kind soul, always happy and smiling and wishing the best for those around her.

Maria always enjoyed spending time away from the city. In her later years, she happily spent warmer months surrounded by nature at her cottage. She loved playing in her garden, planting flowers, picking fruits and berries, fishing and especially going mushroom picking with her family and friends.

Maria was pre-deceased by her husband Jan, her parents Anna and Juzef, and her brother Janek. She leaves behind her children Teddy (Guylaine), Lawrence, Sophia (Marco), and Elizabeth (Frank). She will be sadly missed by her numerous grandchildren: Cassandra, Luca, Massimo, Katherine, Johnny, Andy, Krissy, Vicky, Angie, and Tommy, as well as her great-grandchildren Johnny, Bryan, Mary Jane, Alex Jr, Joseph and Abigail. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Zosia, her nephew Edward, her niece Lucy (Tony) and their two children Maverick and Miranda.

Due to public health restrictions, funeral and church arrangements are limited to close family and friends, by invitation only.
A private visitation will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Complex in Senneville on Sunday, May 30th. On Monday May 31st, a private funeral service (by invitation only) will be held at St. Michael & St. Anthony's Church. She will then be taken to her final resting place at the Notre-Dame-des Neiges Cemetery. We hope to have a celebration of her life at a later time when conditions allow for an in-person gathering.

For those unable to attend, please join us virtually to pray the rosary (in Polish) on Sunday, May 30th at 4:30pm and to assist at the funeral mass on Monday May 31st at 11:00am. Links provided in Funeral Details further below.
In the event of technical difficulties, links to the recordings will be posted afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to your favourite charity in her honour.

Maria will be dearly missed and is forever in our hearts. We love you Babcia! Please watch over us.
