Lois Kathryn Katnick (née Anderson)

June 29, 1938 -  July 25, 2022

Lois, born in Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke at the age of 84 in Montreal. Lois is predeceased by her husband of 42 years Jack Katnick and her daughter Leslie Katnick. Lois is survived by her daughters Julia (Ed) and Mira (Yves); her grandchildren Matthew (Dana), Ryan, Christopher, Nicolas and great grandchild Fenna.
Lois left the US in 1961 to attend the National Theater School of Canada in Montreal where she met Jack and raised their three girls. Lois trained her voice under Bernard Diamant and sang with several choral groups.
Her compassion and great appreciation of nature is evident by her volunteer work in the Jewish community, the creation of the LES Foundation Fund with the Foundation of Greater Montreal, and contributions to the Seacoast Science Center, NH, USA; the Huntsman Marine Science Center, St Andrews, NB; the Ecomuseum Zoo in Montreal; Équiterre; the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal; and various indigenous communities and groups in Canada and the US.
Lois and her passion for nutrition, faith and healing will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the organizations that Lois has supported.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 1st at 11:00 at the Mount Royal Cemetery. Please meet at 10:45 at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Québec H2V 2P9
