In Celebration of

Lois Gamble (Morrison)

August 16, 1929 -  July 26, 2020

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lois, just three weeks shy of her 91st birthday. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Warren (2018). Her loss will be deeply mourned by her four daughters: Jennifer Gamble Jankovics (Lloyd Watson), Nancy Gamble, Valerie Gamble Ayerst (Jay Ayerst), Sarah Gamble. Lois will be sadly missed by her 6 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Stuart Gamble, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours.

Lois was born and raised on a farm north of Lachute, in a family descended from hardy pioneer stock. After training at MacDonald College she taught in several PSBGM schools and eventually specialized in assessing learning disabilities at the MCH-McGill Learning Centre. She was a long time active member of People's Church of Montreal, and a darn good pianist who didn't read music, but played by ear. In her later years, she discovered the internet, joined facebook, participated in several chat groups, and kept in touch with a worldwide network of friends and relatives. She also reconnected with her artistic side and loved to sketch and paint watercolours, when she wasn't busy checking her email.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a small private family funeral will be held on Monday, August 3rd at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex. A larger celebration of her life will follow when conditions improve.

In lieu of flowers, donations to World Vision Canada or The Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory would be greatly appreciated.

I feel so fortunate to have been able to connect with Lois and share family stories from our Graham side of the family. The stories I heard as a child from my grandmother and great-aunts were some of the same stories Lois told. Lois was a wealth of knowledge and so easy to talk to. Dear Nancy, Valerie, Sarah and Jennifer my thoughts are with you at this time. May you find peace as you gather together to honour your mom / grandmother’s life. Please know that if you are ever visiting the Maritimes you are always welcome to drop in. I’d be very happy to host Lois’s family at any time. Sincerely, Susan A. Dean

So sorry to hear of Lois's passing. She lived up at the corner until several years ago and cultivated the most beautiful flower bank around to delight our eyes! I am also a painter (acrylic and mixed media) and encouraged her ongoing pursuit of watercolour painting. I phoned her from time to time at the Kensington residence and was always glad to be greeted by her cheery voice. My husband Jim and I will both miss her presence among us.

We were so fortunate to have moved in next to Lois and Warren in 1981and became close neighbours and friends. Lois was a charming and elegant lady whose devotion to her family and Church was truly inspirational. We cannot imagine better neighbours than Lois and Warren. Lois will be surely be missed, but the fond memories that we have of the good times that we shared will comfort us; as we hope they will comfort all her loved ones. May her memory be for a blessing.

So glad to have had my aunt Lois in my life. Always remember her great stories. One that comes to mind is when she ate the apple and found only half of the worm. Lol. She will be missed.
