In Celebration of

Karen Mackett

June 25, 1958 -  March 10, 2023

Karen Elizabeth Mackett passed into the arms of angels after a 4 year battle with cancer. Karen was beyond being a loving mother, amazing Nana and thoughtful friend to so many who were fortunate to know her. She leaves behind her husband and life partner Bob Freitag, her children, Matthew Shulman (Irit) Kate (Dominic), Michael, Nathan and adoring grandchildren Hannah and Henry and special brother John. Karen was predeceased by her dearest father Robert Mackett and her loving mother Eileen Mackett (nee Pepall) as well as brother Jim. Special mention for some of her endearing friends including but not limited to Susan (Sam), Jane, Anne, Brenda and Jules.

Karen loved life and anyone that she touched were better people for it. Laughing, gardening, walking in the woods, cooking, and travel were some of her many enjoyed pastimes and there are too many to articulate here. She loved life, period.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Nova Hudson in her memory.

My dearest Karen, where would I be without your beautiful friendship all of my life ? Side by side, from the meandering paths of Crawford Park to NDG/ Montreal Ouest to Hudson. Did I forget something? I counted on your memory! Our deep connection and love transcends worlds, memories of our silly humour I will treasure always. You never deserved this terrible battle. As Mary says to George Bailey, “I’ll love you ‘til the day I die” . I will look out for dimes, my angel.

Sending my sincere condolences on Karen's passing. I met Karen when I was 12 and in grade 7. We immediately became friends along with Jane, Brenda and Susan. We spent our years in high school enjoying laughter, hanging out and drink Karen's version of Cafe au lait, dreaming about our grown-up lives. We have not been in touch over the last few years but we had some wonderful adult catch-ups and sharing of our lives. Karen's June birthday never passes without me thinking of her and our growing up years together.
I hope that your many wonderful memories of days gone by will bring you comfort in the coming years. xooxoxxo

Karen you truly are one in a million. Your smile always makes me smile.
We had many fun times in our Hudson ladies group. It was a while since we got together but fond memories are still with me. I had the pleasure of teaching at the tree house and saw you with your grandkids. They looked forward To when Nana was
Picking them up and Having sleepovers. Spoiled and loved by you meant a lot to them and it showed.
RIP my friend. You will be truly and forever missed❤️💐
