It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Julie Hisaye Shikatani (nee Kitamura) on March 4, 2020. She peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving children.

Julie was born on July 24, 1925 in Vancouver BC to Isa and Gennosuke Kitamura. Wife of the late John Shikatani, she leaves behind her beloved children Debbie (Ken Azuma) and Dean, and cherished grandchildren Lisa and Krysten. A lover of animals, she will be missed by her dear dog Gizmo. Also left to mourn her loss is her sister Susie (late Stan Kishimoto), sister-in-laws Kimi, Margaret (late Mucka Makimoto) and Shirley, and brother-in-laws Tom and Ken and many nieces and nephews. Julie was predeceased by her sister Kinuye, brothers Gen and Shigeru, sister-in-laws Hatsue, Dorothy (late Sam Ishihara) and brother-in-laws Fred (late Kikuko) and Jack.

Julie was a kind gentle lady who lived her life with integrity and gratitude. A proud Bachan, her happiest moments were times spent with her granddaughters Lisa and Krysten. We will miss her and forever cherish her memory.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of koden donations in Julie's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Montreal SPCA are gratefully appreciated.
