In Celebration of

John David Howick

November 10, 1938 -  December 11, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Howick after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, surrounded by his family, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Lilian, father of Andrea (Mike), Julie (Pat) and much loved Jiddo of Luke, Matt, Bobby and Nicholas. John was born in Montreal, attended Mount Royal High School and later Middlebury College, where he obtained a BA and an MA in English Literature. He returned to Montreal where he successfully ran the Big Blue Jeans Company for many years. John was passionate about farming and spent all his free time at his dearly loved Plum Tree Farm where he ran cattle, did haying and enjoyed the country community. John was involved in many charitable organizations, notably the Cedars Home for the Elderly where he served on the board for more than 30 years and was president from 1979-1981. He is survived by brothers Andrew (Genevieve) and Peter (Amy) and sister Suzie (Ray). The family would like to express sincere thanks to John’s devoted caregivers, Elsa, Alvin, Dee and Rina. Many thanks to Dr. Sadikot, Dr. Lafontaine, Dr. Lysy and to the staff on the 3rd floor at Chateau Westmount. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital at: theneuro.ca/donate.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, December 17 2019, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm and funeral services on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:30am at

Long before we met, my children grew in Howick jeans. I am sure many people will remember, too.
Lilian, please accept my condolences on the loss of your dear husband. May his memory be for a blessing and may you and your family know no further sorrow.
