In Celebration of

Joan Zdyb (Nee Timmons)

March 5, 1936 -  May 11, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Zdyb (nee Timmons) announce her passing on May 11th, in her 86th year of life.

She was always surrounded by her loving family; her husband and life-long friend of 65 years, Walter Zdyb (“Wally”, as she tenderly called him!), daughters Chrystal (son-in-law Jim), Andrea (son-in-law Daniel) and son Christopher.

Joan was the proud grandmother of Kyle (Tiffany), Christina (Ryan) and Liano who all lovingly called her “Nanny”.

She is survived by brothers Joey (Cathy), Bill (Brenda-deceased) as well as sister Katie (Brendan) and her many nieces and nephews.

Joan will be reunited with her parents, Joseph and Chrystal Timmons, deceased sisters Bernice, Mary and Karen.

She was a devoted wife and mother who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and was known for her warm and happy smile, kind and gentle soul as well as her infamous “giggle”.

Joan will be sadly missed and remain forever in our hearts.

Funeral service will take place at Mount Royal Chapel on Wednesday June 22nd starting at 12:30 pm. A chapel service will follow at 1:30 pm.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed their condolences.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Ami Quebec a support group that helps families understand and cope with the effects of mental illness on their everyday life (https://amiquebec.org/).

I will forever remember Auntie Joanie for her kindness. I am grateful for having been able to share some final "shenanigans" by her hospital bedside with my dad and Auntie Katie - despite everything, she was glowing and giggling her famous giggle that day. I know she will continue to cast a warm watchful glow on all of you. Sending sincere sympathies and love, Lori, Mark, Trevor, Jessica, and Shane xxxooo

Rest in peace Joan.

You will be missed.

We will think of you everyday, in those special little moments where the light is just right, the clouds are high in the sky and we are surrounded by the beauty of life.

I was so sad to hear about Joan's passing, her warmth, generosity and strong spirit will always be remembered. A trip to visit my Aunt Donna never felt complete without a visit with Walter and Joan. The short walk to their home was always lovely. The visit always filled with great conversation and lots of laughs. I last visited with Joan and Walter in the Fall of 2016, I bought my son, Seth, who was 9 months old to meet them. It was a beautiful afternoon. Joan will live on in our family stories and memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and especially with Walter at this time.

With love,
Dominic
