Jill Thorogood Milne

September 12, 1930 -  August 10, 2021

Jill passed away at Saint Margaret’s Residential Centre in Westmount, Quebec on August 10th, 2021, at the age of 90, with family at her side.

Jill will be lovingly missed by her children: Christopher (wife Noella nee Lobo), Geoffrey, MerryJill, Joseph and Jonathan, and her grandchildren: Shane, Craig (wife Ashleigh nee Phillips), Natasha, Alissa, Jacqueline, Deegan and her niece, Freddie. Loving brothers: Peter, Richard (deceased) and Julian.

Jill was born in Romford England and later attended Brentwood School in Essex, a Boarding School in the English countryside from her 6th to 16th year, where she excelled at sports and graduated in 1947. Thereafter, she attended secretarial school and attained a position with Proctor and Gamble.

Jill met her future husband Bill (William Joseph Milne) while living and working in Newcastle Upon Tyne. In 1953, they married in England and sailed to Canada - settling in Westmount Quebec to start their family.
During the 1970s, while raising her five children, Jill went back to school, attaining several degrees, including: Master of Theology (1981) and Master of Education (1994) from McGill University. Jill taught at several High Schools for both the MCSB and the PSBGM in Montreal for 30 years until her retirement at the age of 72. She was always an active member of her Church and promoted youth involvement through her volunteer summer camp counsellorship at Camp Kinkora Folk Music Camp in the Laurentians of Quebec.

Jill remained active in her retirement years, pursuing her interests in music and poetry, visiting family and as a Volunteer for the Montreal General Hospital for 12 years.

Funeral Services will be held at:
Christ Church Cathedral, 635 Ste. Catherine St. West
Monday August 23rd at 11:00am, with a viewing at 10:00am.
