In Celebration of

Heather Copeland (nee Home)

August 11, 1932 -  August 5, 2020

It is with broken yet peaceful hearts that we share news of the loss of our cherished Mum, Gran, Big H, Razzle-Dazzle, Heather.
Heather is survived by her son Steve (Philadelphia), daughter Kerry (and Graham, Halifax), grandchildren Josh, Trevor, Sage, Drew and Dane, and many extended family and friends. Heather was fortunate to have shared her life with two loving husbands, Tony Copeland and David Stubington, both whom pre-deceased her.
Heather was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland where she lived until following Tony to Canada in 1957, marrying later that year. The pair built happy and vibrant lives in the Town of Mount Royal (TMR) where they quickly became part of the community and provided wonderful childhood years for Steve and Kerry.
Heather had many artistic talents and throughout her life managed to balance the needs of her family with her careers as a professional fashion designer and then potter.
Heather and David built a strong and lasting relationship after losing their spouses and enjoyed many years together. Heather was pleased to have her family grow with the addition of David’s daughters Anne, Cathy and Margaret.
Those fortunate enough to know Heather would agree that above all, her most special attributes were her compassion, caring and tireless efforts to give-back and make a difference. Heather brought light, love and laughter to many. Whether through her role as an inspiring instructor at the TMR Pottery Studio, being recognized as TMR’s Volunteer of the Year, spearheading events at the Mount Royal United Church, delivering Meals on Wheels, creating flower arrangements for those whose lives needed brightening, or being the life of the party, Heather was a positive force who will be dearly missed by many.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a small burial will take place and the family will begin plans for a fitting memorial to this amazing lady in 2021. Special thanks to the family and friends, Reverend David Clinker and the MRUC family, and Dr. Todd McConnell who provided support. Those wishing to commemorate Heather, may do so with a donation in her name to the SPCA.

My Dearest Cousin Heather,
I will so miss our lovely phone chats where we laughed and joked for hours. I will miss visiting you in Montreal . I remember bringing my parents to visit Daddy's immediate relations when they were staying with me in New Yorkand we stayed in your and Tony's house.
I am so happy to be in touch with your two children, Kerry and Steve, and Steve's children. That brings me nearer to you.
Have a safe journey Heather dear, and hopefully you will meet up with Tony and David, and all the Copeland's who are waiting for you with open arms.
Love you - Pennny xxxxxxxxx

So sorry to learn of Heather's passing. Kerry spoke of her often. What a lovely obituary and testimony to a life well lived. She certainly leaves a wonderful legacy in her daughter Kerry, who is simply a wonderfully beautiful person.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Dear Kerry Steve and your children. My heart is with you all. Your mom truly made the world and my life better. She was a bright light to so many and such a wonderful laugh. I will treasure my times with her and your Dad always.

I am so glad I was in touch with Heather - but sadly too little too late - but what a beautiful Obituary which she would have loved - and now I regret so much not making the attempt to go over to Canada ...I hope to rectify that - as Canada is the one country I would love to see - having travelled so extensively in my career....so I have already started to discuss this possibility with my partner Charles. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away...as they say...so farewell to Heather and this week, my new grand-daughter is due to arrive - for Orlando, my son, and Katy Perry as her parents and as her Auntie, my beautiful daughter and fine nutritionist Samantha Bloom...Love to you all and lets hope we make it over to Canada before it becomes too late!! I hope to combine it with a visit to LA which is surely more than halfway there from lil ol' England. . with my love to everyone - Copelands forever!! Sonia xxxx
