In Celebration of

Hazel Patricia (née Archer) Tilden

March 14, 1925 - May 12, 2022

Our mother Hazel passed away peacefully at Chateau Dollard, DDO, Quebec on May 12, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband Sam and son Tom. She is survived by her children Foster, Peter (Sandra) and Julia (David), grandchildren Neil, Angie (Rose), Sam, Joseph, Océane and Sabrina, and by great-grandchild Salvia.

Born in NDG to British immigrants, Hazel studied French at McGill before proceeding to commercial college. In 1950 she married her high school sweetheart Sam Tilden, and pursued office work until children started to arrive. An accomplished homemaker with an eye for beauty and love of music, she raised the four of us with care and gentleness. She was a stalwart volunteer with the altar guild (St. John the Baptist Church Pointe Claire), the ArtLend (Stuart Hall) and the Low Vision Self-Help Association.

Hazel was a faithful correspondent who worked to keep family connected, and a good friend known for her thoughtfulness. But most of all she was our irreplaceable mother, always there to comfort us when needed and share our joys and successes.

Our deepest gratitude goes to all the staff at Chateau Dollard for the exceptional care they provided Hazel over twelve years. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
