In Celebration of

Frank Gufler

August 31, 1930 -  October 20, 2019

Frank Gufler, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2019, with his loving wife Katie by his side.
Frank is also survived by his children Frank jr., Margi, Elisabeth, Anne-Marie and Ron, his sister Hildegard (Herbert) & family in Germany and his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Frank was born in Regensburg, Germany and made his way to Canada in 1953.
Anyone whose life Frank touched, knew him to be a gentle soul, with a big heart, who never had a harsh word to say about anyone.
He was a beautiful human being with eyes that could reach into your soul and make you feel loved and cherished.
He was a devoted member of St. Boniface Church for 66 years. His love of music and song was evident by how much he loved being part of the choir.
Every Sunday he rang the church bell with precision and each time we hear church bells, it will trigger a fond memory. His loving nature, passion for life and respect for all of God’s creatures, represented everything that is good in this world.
Frank was an inspiration to all in the way he lived his life and he made time for anyone who needed help with anything.
There was nothing that Frank could not build, fix, repair, restore or improve. There is nothing more precious a gift than one that is made from the heart.
Frank, thank you for showing us what it means to be a kind person, thank you for your love and devotion
to your family, thank you for your strength when we needed it most, thank you for opening up your heart to anyone who needed a shoulder.
Thank you for being a wonderful mentor and teacher, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being an incredible husband, father, brother and friend.
Your illness did not define you, your strength and courage did.
We thank Father Gerald Westphal for his compassion and help, the CLSC Pierrefonds, NOVA West Island,
all the Care people who helped look after Frank at home and the care and attention he received in the Geriatrics Ward, Lakeshore General Hospital.
Because of the parking problems in the Plateau area, the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the
Mount Royal Funeral Complex, de la Foret in Outremont, on Friday, November 15th, 2019 at 11:00 am with inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Frank can made a donation in his name to St. Boniface R.C. Parish or to the Canadian Cancer society.
“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered “Come to Me”.
A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best”. unknown

What a lovely tribute of love, compassion, and truth to the man that he truly was. In this short time that has passed, we have missed his presence and smile and kindness.
God bless you Frank. And God bless you Katie.

I miss you! You are remembered in our prayers and hymns.
May the Angels lead you into Paradise:
may the martyrs receive you at your coming
and lead you into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choir of Angels receive you,
and with Lazarus, who once was poor,
may you have everlasting rest.
