It is with deep sadness that the family of Fred Pechet announces his passing on Thursday September 16, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife Madeleine, cherished sons Philippe, Nicolas and daughter-in-law Jia, adored grandchildren James, Charlotte and Karina.

Fred spent his formative years in Paris, France and graduated with an engineering degree from the University of London’s Imperial College of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering in London, England. He began his career working for Daimler-Benz in Sindelfingen, Germany and later in Montreal, Canada. Fred went on to become the owner of a recognized General Motors dealership in Montreal and a myriad of other flourishing enterprises.

In 1980, he was instrumental in creating Leader Automobile Resources (LAR), the largest automotive buying group in North America and served for on the board of TECAR, the largest automotive buying group in Europe.

Fred was an avid international traveler and a competitive tennis player. Fred enjoyed combining his passion for tennis with his management knowhow by serving as President of the Mount-Royal Tennis Club.

He will be missed by all those whose life he touched, as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor.

A private family funeral will take place.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que la famille de Fred Pechet annonce son décès le jeudi 16 septembre 2021. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée Madeleine, ses fils chéris Philippe, Nicolas et sa belle-fille Jia, ses petits-enfants adorés James, Charlotte et Karina.

Fred a passé ses années de formation à Paris, en France, et a obtenu un diplôme d'ingénieur de l’Université de Londres Imperial College of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering à Londres, en Angleterre. Il a commencé sa carrière en travaillant pour Daimler-Benz à Sindelfingen, en Allemagne et plus tard à Montréal. Fred est devenu propriétaire d'un concessionnaire General Motors reconnu à Montréal et d'une myriade d'autres entreprises florissantes.

En 1980, il a joué un rôle déterminant dans la création de Leader Automobile Resources (LAR), le plus grand groupe d'achats automobile en Amérique du Nord et a siégé pendant plusieurs années au conseil d'administration de TECAR, le plus grand groupe d'achats européen dans le secteur automobile.

Fred était un grand voyageur international et un joueur de tennis compétitif. Fred a combiné sa passion pour le tennis avec son savoir-faire en gestion en occupant le poste de Président du Club de tennis Mont-Royal.

Il manquera à tous ceux dont il a touché la vie, en tant que mari, père, grand-père, ami et mentor.

Des funérailles familiales privées auront lieu.
