In Celebration of

Florence Mary Armstrong (née Pelley)

January 2, 1925 -  September 4, 2019

Florence Armstrong passed away peacefully on September 4, 2019, at the West Island Palliative Care Center. She was born on January 2, 1925, in Pictou, NS, to Frederick Pelley and Aline Eloquin.
Florence was married to Douglas Murdoch Armstrong and was blessed with three beautiful children. While she suffered the loss of her beloved husband in 1984, Florence found love once again with James Beckerleg. They were married in 1996 and enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 2007.
Florence spent her summers at the family cottage in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, where she basked in the beautiful scenery and visited with her extended family. She spent many winters in Savannah, Georgia, with her daughter and grandsons. Florence enjoyed reading, swimming, knitting, bowling, and cheering on her favorite hockey team, the Montreal Canadians.
Florence is survived by her three children, Lynda (Richard), Pamela and Douglas, as well as her five grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea (Jason), Richard, Matthew, and Brandon. Flo will be remembered for her vibrant personality and caring nature. Memories of her spontaneously breaking into song during family dinners will be cherished forever.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the West Island Palliative Care Center for the remarkable care they provided to Flo during her final weeks. As Florence loved to say: “This is the best 5-star hotel I’ve ever stayed at!”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the West Island Palliative Care Center.
