In Celebration of

Eugenie Stefani (nee Biedler)

November 8, 1920 -  November 16, 2018

Genie, Mutti, Omi passed on November 16th 2018. Born November 8th 1920 in Poland, during a time that was very different from today.

The eldest daughter of eleven children, predeceased by her husband, John she is survived by her great great grandchild, Robert Stirling, great grandchildren Amanda, Bradley, Matthieu, Tyler, Raquel, Cole, Nathan, Evaly, grandchildren Debbie, Rodney, Kristopher, Justin, Adam, Stéphanie, Sébastien, Anton, Alba and children Alice, Bernie, Rudy and Leslie.

Known for her characteristic hard-working attitude, resilience, and perseverance; complaining was not in her nature.

Often waking at sunrise to tend to her flowers on spring and summer mornings while her Roxboro neighbourhood was still asleep, she found comfort in this morning routine. Having tended to her flowers’ needs, she would lovingly prepare breakfast for the household and devour a half dozen eggs or so herself!

Hosting and the preparation of special-occasion meals gave her a great sense of fulfilment.

Moving on to new opportunities while her fifties, she went to work in the family delicatessen, rising to the occasion yet again as she worked tirelessly to ensure the business ran smoothly.

Having survived several strokes, c-difficile infections, she passed away peacefully at Lakeshore General Hospital.

Genie will be remembered for her love of fashion, attention to detail, endurance and resourcefulness.

Her charming way ensured her presence was felt and always facilitated her sense of belonging. Her willingness to help others underscored her compassionate nature and her resilience was her biggest ally until her final moments, when her faith in a higher being brought her peace as she faced her destiny at the age of 98.

a finer mother in law one could not find. She always treated me as her own, to which I am honoured. She gave me the most wonderful gift in the world, her daughter.

I remember your Mom just as you have described her. On visits to the Roxboro home in the 70's I can recall her stuffing all of us with more home cooking than we could eat, and when met with resistance to eating more, she would say 'you heff to eat'!

My sympathy to your family and may you cherish her memories.
