Ernest Battah

January 4, 1928 -  November 13, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Battah on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Survived by his wife of 66 years, Camille (Aboussafy), his children Diane, Elaine, Brian, Michael (Malika) and Kathleen (the late Francois Charbonneau), his daughter-in-law Ingrid Ganzhorn, and his much-loved grandchildren, Zachary, Sebastien, Alexa, Chloé, Michaëla, Dylan, Imane, Jade and Sabrina.
He also leaves behind his brother Edwin (June), his sister Joan (Edward Yarid) and sister-in-laws Grace (the late Gordon) and Danielle (the late Simon Roy), as well as the numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-laws Norman (Agnes), Alphonse (Leona) and Amélie (Marc-André Morency).
Ernie, a spirited man, with a boundless passion for life and all that it encompasses, lead a rich and eventful life. He was much loved by so many and will be sorely missed by all. His charm, charisma and wisdom, appreciated by young and old alike, made him a true original, one of a kind. He will forever be remembered for his bright and engaging smile, witty sense of humor, and “joie de vivre”.
Having lived most of his life in Joliette, Ernie, along with his four brothers, built a successful retail business, Magasin Battah, and later in life, a wholesale business, Group Hexavogue, with his children.
Ernie, we love you and will miss you greatly. We are truly blessed for having had you in our lives, and we thank you for all that you have done for us.
Special thank you to Dr. Tim Meagher, Dr. Jacques How, Dr. Pierre Tessier, and from CLSC Métro, Dr. Piché and Maude, Martin, Marie-Christine, as well as to his devoted and compassionate caregivers Maria, Laila, Madonna, Monna, Josephine, Kate and to the many others before.

Visitations will take place on Thursday, November 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m., as well as on Friday, November 22 at 10 a.m. at the:

A Funeral service will be held on November 22 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Complex.

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous vous faisons part du décès de monsieur Ernest Battah, le mercredi 13 novembre 2019, à l'âge de 91 ans.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Camille Aboussafy, ses enfants Diane, Elaine, Brian, Michael (Malika) et Kathleen (feu François Charbonneau), sa belle-fille Ingrid Ganzhorn et ses petits-enfants pour lesquels il avait une affection particulière, Zachary, Sebastien, Alexa, Chloé, Michaëla, Dylan, Imane, Jade et Sabrina, son frère Edwin (June) sa sœur Joan (Edward), ses belle-soeurs Grace (feu Gordon), Danielle (feu Simon Roy), ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux, parents et amis. Précédé dans la mort par deux de ses frères, Norman (feu Agnes) et Alphonse (feu Leona), et sa belle-soeur Amélie (feu Marc-André Morency).

Ernie était bien aimé et apprécié par plusieurs. On se souviendra toujours de lui pour son sourire chaleureux, son sens de l'humour et surtout sa joie de vivre. Son charme, son charisme et sa sagesse sont appréciés par les jeunes et les moins jeunes et en ont fait un véritable original, unique en son genre.

Après avoir passé la plus grande partie de sa vie à Joliette, Ernie et ses quatre frères ont bâti avec succès un commerce au détail, Magasin Battah et plus tard, avec ses enfants, un commerce de grossiste, le Groupe Hexavogue.

Ernie nous t'aimons et tu vas beaucoup nous manquer. Nous sommes vraiment bénis de t’avoir eu dans nos vies et nous te remercions pour tout ce que tu as fait pour nous.

Un merci tout spécial au Dr Tim Meagher, au Dr Jacques How, au Dr Pierre Tessier et au CLSC Métro, Dr Piché et Maude, Martin, Marie-Christine, de même que Maria, Laila, Madonna, Monna, Josephine, Kate et tous les autres, pour leur dévouement et leurs excellents soins.

La famille accueillera parents et amis le jeudi 21 novembre 2019 de 14 h à 17 h et de 18:30 à 21 h, ainsi que le vendredi à 10 h au
