In Celebration of

Enid Wickham (nee Hiam)

August 3, 1931 -  March 12, 2022

It is with great sadness and love that the family of Enid Wickham announce her peaceful passing in her 91st year on Saturday, March 12th at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence with her family by her side.

Enid was born in the Westmount neighbourhood of Montreal. She is predeceased by her husband Frank Wickham, her parents Gerald and Doris (nee Young) Hiam and her sisters Audrey and Joan. She is affectionately remembered by her children Debbie Wickham, Nancy (Michel) Cardinal, Jennifer (Alan) Dewling, Bev (Brian) Coxford, and Marty (Nina) Wickham. She was the much-loved Granny to the late Adam Sura, Mathieu (Michelle) Cardinal, Scott Wickham, Rishka Wickham and Hannah Krutow.

Enid had many passionate pursuits and great fun with her friends. She was happiest on the golf course where she won many awards, scored a hole-in-one and became the Ladies’ President of the Royal Montreal Golf Club. She was an accomplished bridge player, floral designer and teacher, worked part time until she was 78, was a dedicated volunteer at the Nova West Island and the Lakeshore General Hospital for which she received her 20 Year Pin for volunteer service and started her own business in her 80’s.

As is often customary with women of her generation, Enid was a model of courage and determination. With her head held high, sparkling blue eyes, and impeccable style, she made her way through life’s ups and downs with rugged determination and unwavering optimism. Bravo mom!

Enid was nicknamed “Tante Blanche” (for her golden hair) by her devoted and cherished nephew Bruce Wickham, who provided a steady and reliable presence throughout her life, especially during her last challenging months. Our heartfelt thanks to Bruce and Enid’s caregivers at the Lakeshore General Hospital, St. Anne’s Hospital & the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence.

A Celebration of Enid’s Life is planned for the summer, date and venue to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence (Kirkland, Quebec) in Enid’s memory would be greatly appreciated. The care and compassion that Enid received from the dedicated and talented team in this beautiful facility was nothing short of extraordinary. For this, we are forever grateful.
