In Celebration of

Dr. John Conrad Jones

November 8, 1937 -  April 23, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. John Conrad Jones at the age of 80 years old on April 23, 2018.

He was devoted and loving husband of Marta Jones, who predeceased him in April 2010. He was able to join her 8 years later on the anniversary of her death.

Loving father to Elizabeth, Christopher and Sheila, cherished brother of Colin Jones and Marilyn Bourne, devoted grandfather to Caitlyn, Sarah and Matthew Hui, and Avery and Emma Moeck. John will be missed by many.

He will always be remembered as a dedicated human rights advocate and a great professor of physics, never ceasing to inspire his students and push the boundaries of knowledge and science. An academic at heart, John Will be remembered fondly for his contributions to the field of theoretical physics and for his brilliant mind.

A memorial gathering will take place on May 19, 2018 between 11 to 1 pm at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V 2p9

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Amnesty International Canada would be appreciated.

Mr. Jones was a very nice gentleman and he will miss to all of us in the building

My brother left home for Oxford University when I was seven years of age. I still regard him as the best teacher I ever had.

I have interesting memories of John going back around 50 years, a deep thinking man who we met up with occasionally over the years only due to distance. Over recent years we swapped notes on weather situations and other geographical subjects where we shared common interest. His and Marta’s work with Amnesty occasionally flagged up with us, and their success in making peoples lives better will always be remembered by those that involved.
