In Celebration of

Dr. Gerald W. Stanimir, MD, F.R.C.S.

March 15, 1949 -  September 16, 2022

We are devastated by the loss of our dear husband, father, friend, Dr. Gerald William Stanimir. His world revolved around his beloved wife, Carol, his three adoring children, Mark (Stacy), Justin (Caitlyn), Caroline Ashley, his two grandchildren, Dylan and Riley, and his loyal beagle, Brian; and their lives revolved around him. He relished his friends, our friends, our children’s friends and his animals all of whom were woven into the fabric of his life and nothing gave him greater joy than to be surrounded by them.

Gerry was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and friend who deeply cared about everyone. He carried the burden of his gravely ill patients with him, working tirelessly to save a great many lives, perhaps more than anyone knew.

We could list endless awards, leadership positions, accolades and achievements, but our most treasured memories of this great man will always be the happiness he brought to each and everyone of us. The brilliant surgeon, the “Bon Vivant”, the joke teller, the loyal friend, the passionate and caring physician; he treated everyone who crossed his path with dignity, respect and importance. We trusted him, laughed and cried with him, and above all loved him so deeply. He actually hid the graveness of his own illness to protect and spare us all. That was our Gerry.

We sadly miss the presence of his beloved deceased parents, Olga and William Stanimir Sr. and are comforted by the presence of his three siblings, Philip, William Jr.(Michele), Lillian (Desmond), his brother-in-law Gary (MaryAnne) and many amazing nieces and nephews.

We will gather to mourn our loss and celebrate his life at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont. On Wednesday, October 5th there will be a visitation from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. On Thursday, October 6th the funeral will commence at 11am in the Main Chapel. Family will receive condolences from 10 a.m., followed by an on site reception from 12-2pm. The burial will take place at 2:30 pm at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, 460, Chemin de la Côtes-des-Neiges.

Donations can be made to the Cedars Cancer Foundation by check, 1310 Greene Avenue suite 520, Westmount QC. H3Z2B2, by phone at 514-656-6662 (with Karine Pelletier) or at cedars.ca/memorial to the memory of Dr. Gerald Stanimir.

We will hold our dear Gerry closely in our hearts until the day we meet again.
May his beautiful memory be a blessing to us all.

_____
