In Celebration of

Dorothy Ann Wyer (née Eadie)

September 2, 1930 -  November 11, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Eadie Wyer on November 11, 2021.

Daughter of the late Thomas Wardrope Eadie and Gladys Hodge-Eadie, Dorothy is survived by her husband of 62 years Ronald Wyer, son Graham (Behdis Nowrouzi), daughter Heather (Frank Candido), and grandchildren Olivia, Julian and Maya.

Born in Toronto, Dorothy attended Blythwood Public School and Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute before moving to Montreal where she continued her education at Trafalgar School for Girls. Her post secondary education included a BSc (1951) and MSc (1954) from McGill University. Dorothy moved to Calgary to start her career as a geologist where she met her future husband, Ron. Once married, they returned to Montreal and raised their two wonderful children Graham and Heather. Dorothy was involved as a volunteer over the years with many associations including the University Women’s club of Calgary (President), Association of Petroleum Geologists, Junior Leagues of Calgary and Montreal, Women’s Canadian Club of Montreal (President), Auxiliary of the Montreal General Hospital (President), Board of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and St. Matthias Church Fellowship (President).

Dorothy was a genuine giver with a heart of gold. She loved to entertain and surround herself with family and friends. We will always remember her beautiful and gentle smile, her devotion to her husband, the selfless support she gave her children, and her warm and caring way with her grandchildren, whom she adored.

A heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and specialists at the Jewish General Hospital for caring for her in her final months, with such compassion and dignity.

A private family celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held.
