In Celebration of

Diane Szybowska Caristo

November 4, 1950 -  January 21, 2020

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Diane Caristo (nee Szybowska) after a heroic battle with cancer. Despite this fundamental loss, her beloved daughters Amanda and Tanya take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and free of pain. They will miss her greatly; as will her sister Peggy (Gord), God-children Jessica (Derek) and Michael, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends, and the entire Loyola High School community.

Visitation will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Route Transcanadienne, Senneville, on Sunday, January 26 from 5 to 9pm.

Funeral Service at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 4455 West Broadway, Montreal, QC, H4B 2A7, on Monday, January 27 at 1pm, and a Celebration of Life reception to follow at Loyola High School.

Diane would not want her guests to cry but instead to celebrate her life. Please join us in not wearing black during these events.

Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital and MUHC who provided excellent care and support for Diane.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to any of the following would be greatly appreciated:
The St. Mary's Hospital Foundation
The Montreal SPCA
or The Loyola High School Foundation.

She will be greatly missed.

I will always remember how you looked out for our boys as if they were family. You were there for Giancarlo when he needed a mom away from home. You were kind and caring. We often talk about the memories we have of Miss Caristo. And now we are shocked and so sad to hear of your passing. Our sympathies to your family

This is the way I will remember her, beautiful, energetic, always proud. She loved her children, Amanda and Tanya, they were her pride and joy. She was always there for them, encouraging them to live life to the fullest. We have been through a lot together over the years, this is not how I thought our journey would end. Rest in peace my bossy friend, you will be missed! :)

My sincere condolences to Ms. Caristo's family. I have no doubt she will be missed terribly.

Ms. Caristo was a corner-stone of the Loyola family. I cannot even begin to count the number of times she helped me during my time at Loyola. I remember her fondly as someone who was always generous with her time and kindness. She had an infection smile and laugh. Ms. Caristo was always my first choice when I needed anything and she was all too often happy to help, even when it was not her job. She will certainly live on in the hearts and minds of the thousands of Loyola men she helped shape.

We were really lucky because we had bonus time with this wonderful, special lady...for years she would park in front of our house when she would walk her dogs. It gave us so many opportunities to talk. It breaks my heart that she’s gone. When I sat back last night, crushed, and thought about how big a loss this is...and couldn’t begin to imagine how many Loyola families she was there for...it hit me that there is a gift from her that will keep on giving....we just have to quietly do more kind things for people.

To her daughters and family...she was immensely proud of you. Our thoughts and sympathies are with you during this heartbreaking time.
