In Celebration of

Conrad Leber

May 14, 1925 -  January 1, 2022

Conrad Leber, 96 years old, of Montreal, passed away on January 1st, 2022 surrounded by his family. Son of Elizabeth and Frederic Leber, he was born on May 14th, 1925, in Liebling, Romania, and immigrated to Canada in 1932, along with predeceased brother Fred Leber.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rose Coty, and was an amazing father and father-in-law to Andrea (David Coble), Conrad (Rochelle Cantor) and Tina (Andreas Kragaris). He was the humorous and kidding grandfather to Nicholas, Gregory, Jack, Jade and Jamie.
His involvement in and ownership of soccer and baseball semi-pro clubs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s allowed him to travel the world. His creation of the Beer Garden at Expo 67, and its tremendous success, changed his life forever and led to him owning restaurants, including La Diligence. He is perhaps best known for growing and transforming Leber & Sons, his father’s 1939 painting company. In the 1970s, he became involved in Standardbred Horse racing and never looked back, owning horses until his last breath.
He was a loving, supportive, energetic husband and father who was always there for his kids. We are all so fortunate for the life he gave us. Thanks to his fearlessness, he over came many health issues in the last 30 years to live life to the fullest.
He will be missed for his energy, excitement, laughs and tears.
Thank you Dad. You will always be Number One to us!
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in loving memory of Conrad to the St.Mary’s Hospital Foundation or the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society (OSAS)
Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of his life will be held in May.
