On December 28th, 2018 Benjamin Louis DeVino peacefully entered eternal life.

Ben’s life with us began on April 1st, 1931. He was born to Louis J. DeVino and Assunta Bartamoccia of Mt. Vernon, New York.

Ben, a devoted husband, leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Toni, nee Italiano, in addition to his brother Ronald, his sons, Glenn (Terry) and Gregory (Susan), his cherished grandchildren, Christopher, pre-deceased, Nicholas, Benjamin and Michael. He also leaves behind a loving family including Madeleine DaLonzo (Carlo), Ralph Italiano (Sheila), pre-deceased, Peter Italiano (Danielle), Vivian Lukian (Doug) pre-deceased, and many more family including nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bens life was full and marked by the achievement of many accomplishments. He often spoke of the work he personally contributed to the construction of the original Tappan Zee Bridge and his work as a Navy Sea Bee at the Brooklyn Navy Yard during the Korean Conflict of the 1950’s. After finishing high school, he went on to earn a degree from City College of New York in engineering and a Master ‘s degree in Construction Management from the California Coast University. He established Ben DeVino Land Surveyor in his home town of Mt. Vernon NY. Working hard and achieving success in his own business he became the owner of multiple land surveying businesses including those in Brooklyn New York and St. Augustine Florida. Expanding his horizons, he took his talents overseas, becoming the project manager on major construction projects around the world for international companies including Marriott, Hilton, and NOGA. One achievement of which he was very proud was the construction of a 900-room hotel in the new Capitol City of Abuja, Nigeria, where he eventually sat on the board of directors of the NOGA Hilton. Among other major projects around the globe, Ben managed the construction of the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco and projects in Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, and Italy.

Ben will be greatly missed by all of us who will no longer be able to see his loving smile or feel his tender touch.

The service will be held on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret , Outremont, QC, H2V 2P9.
