In Celebration of

Michel "Mike" Belanger

June 27, 1950 -  August 21, 2022

Enveloped in the love and presence of his family, Mike’s courageous and stoic battle with cancer ended on August 21, 2022 at the age of 72 at the incredible Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence in Kirkland.

He was taken too soon and will be forever missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Dianne Wolfenden and his admiring sons, Paul and Neil (Rachel), who were the light of his life and all of whom he was very proud of. Mike and Dianne met and fell in love while living on the same street in Ste. Rose, Laval and were proud home owners in Pointe Claire for the past 38 years where they raised their family and enjoyed many events with family and friends at the "Cedar's Inn".

Mike was the first born to the late Louis-Philippe Belanger and Shirley Donald who resided in Laval. He will be profoundly missed by his siblings, Alain (Karen), Lori (Fernando), Christine (Steve) and Marc (Dany).
He was a big brother to his brother in law Dan (Sheila) and sister in law Debra (Rick). He cherished and enjoyed his nieces and nephews, Michael (Stephanie), Matthew (Sarah), Veronique (John), Sophie (Francis), Eva (Sam), Holly (Denis), Erik, Jessica (Federico), Haley (Jamie) and Kelsey (Alex).

He was deeply touched by the outpouring of support, love and visits from family and friends, all of whom he loved dearly.

Mike lived life to the fullest with a positive attitude that was inspiring and impactful. His love of the outdoors and travel was skillfully captured through the eye of a camera lens. One of his favorite subjects was sunsets, which he collected throughout his extensive travel experiences, including across Canada, various islands in the Carribean, Hawaii, Cayman Islands, Portugal, France, Greece, Turkey, Scotland, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Mexico, California, and most recently Australia and Tasmania. He was an appreciator of music and especially anything Beatles. Mike hosted a lunch time radio show in his senior years at high school which always opened and ended with a Beatles song.

He was passionate about golf and many a travel was planned around his goal of playing as many of the top 100 courses as possible. He was an avid curler of 25 years and a certified Curl Canada Instructor. He was a staunch fan of the CFL demonstrated by a 40 year long annual celebration of Grey Cup and his unwavering support for the Hamilton Tiger Cats incited many lively, and entertaining exchanges. His memory and ability to cite dates and stats was remarkable.
His career in sales began at the age of 22 with Anachemia Chemicals from which he retired 45 years later, a true testament to his loyalty, dependability and perseverance.

Mike had a presence, which did not require words to be spoken, but he deserved all the words.

The family expresses their gratitude to the oncology team at the Jewish General Hospital and the remarkable care he and the family received at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Center.

In lieu of flowers or should you wish to honour Mike, a donation can be made to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Center.

RIP my friend, you were an amazing teacher, colleague and support system for me and the entire sales team at Anachemia Science. You always had our best interest at heart and our success was because of the great teamwork and knowledge of the chemical industry.

I always enjoyed my time in Mike's company whether it be at Momesso for lunch, or to play cribbage, or attending a football game. Mike had a great sense of humour. Like the times he offered to "show" me how to play poker, every time I said that I don't play. I will miss him a lot.

LCF - Tiger-Cats
Les agents double de la section I-2

Yanick Cyr

-----------------------------------------------------------

September 8, 2002 -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats can count on a small squad of double agents in Montreal. A group of three black and yellow jerseys with the tiger's head on their shoulders detonate at each game in the I-2 section of the north stands of Percival Molson Stadium. The three Montrealers are unwavering tiger-cats fans and have season tickets with two other friends who line up behind the Alouettes... Hours of fun.

"It's inscribed on my baptistary," says Michel Bélanger to try to explain his allegiance. "It's a mental weakness," retorts Dave Langan, one of the pro-Alouettes. The five companions have known each other for 20 to 25 years and have a lot of fun being heckled by Alouettes fans every game. "I'm very popular here," Bélanger says ironically. "When I want peanuts I ask him to raise his flag," Langan says of his friend's big Tiger-Cats flag. We get peanuts thrown it's unmissable."

Michel Bélanger wears the number 77, his son Paul the 14 and Fred Leone the 23. The three friendly fans are first and foremost passionate about Canadian football. As good fans, they did not let themselves be defeated by the slow start of the Game of the Tiger-Cats, with vigorous flag waving. They believed until the very end that their team was going to steal the game at the finish line. They played with the nerves of Alouettes fans until the very final play of the game.
