In Celebration of

Amelia Marie Fortier (nee Baxter)

February 3, 1925 -  September 3, 2020

Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Town of Mount Royal at the age of 95. Survived by her son Robert (Christine) and grand children Marc (Cynthia), Michelle (Gerry), Mathieu (Karen) and five great grand children, her brother Joe Baxter, her daughter-in-law Carolyn and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Gustave Fortier and partner Roger Ducharme, her parents James Baxter and Maggie Partner, brother Sid Baxter and sisters Marge Grant and Hazel Mitchell. Marie started her work life as a teenager helping to build ships during the war effort in Pictou, N.S. After the war she left her beloved Nova Scotia to live the rest of her life in Quebec. Many years in Noranda working for Dominion Stores, and later in Montreal for Dominion/Provigo to eventually retire from the TMR Provigo store as the Bookkeeper. She spent many afternoons at the Big O cheering on her favourite Expos and many weekends at Blue Bonnets enjoying the horse races She was also a major fan of Coronation Street. In her retirement she spent much time volunteering with a senior citizens group at a local church in NDG. We would like to thank the staff of CHSLD Vigi Mont-Royal, in particular 2 West, for the excellent care she received. In the 2-1/2 years she spent there, she was treated with love and dignity. Due to the current health crisis, a family service will be held at a later date. Mom, Rest in Peace.

I will miss you so much. Thank you for being in my life and for being such a wonderful grandmother. I'll think of our Coronation street chats and of the times we used to sip Dubonet together. Thank you for being a 'great' great grandmother, Chloe and Reid will miss their Gran. You were an amazing woman that I looked to for strength, that I found inspiration from in how you lived your life and how well you raised Dad. I will miss you so much and I'll carry you in my heart forever. Gerry, Chloe, Reid and I, love you and will cherish the time we spent with you. I hope that you are together with Roger and are at peace.
