It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce our Dad and Poppa passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on June 30,2023.

We take comfort in the fact knowing that he is now with his beloved wife Frances who passed away 35 years ago.

Dad immigrated to Canada with his family from Scotland when he was 18 years old and settled in Montreal. Alex as everyone knew him was an apprentice plumber and worked his way to Plant Manager at The Royal Victoria Hospital.

After 42 years with the Vic, Dad retired in 1992. Throughout his retirement he enjoyed travelling, spending time with his family and friends and of course fishing which was his passion!

Those who knew and loved Dad always felt his kind soul. He was the epitome of a Gentleman.
Left to mourn and will be forever missed are his 4 children. Brian (Gail), Audrey (Irving), Robin (Jean-Marc), and Derrick (Kleo). Poppa as he was known, had 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Uncle Alex also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his lifelong friends, Shirley, Flory and Wolfgang.

We would like to thank and express our heartfelt gratitude to Sophie, Annie and Dr. Theberge of the Park-Extension Palliative Care CLSC for their care and compassion. Finally, to the Staff and Volunteers at St. Raphael Palliative care home and day centre, thank you for showing your care, kindness and compassion, not only for our Dad but our family as well during his final days. “Because at the end of Life, Life still comes first” We will be forever grateful.

Visitation will take place on Sunday July 9,2023 from 10AM to 3PM.
Celebration of life to follow from 3PM to 4PM.
