In Celebration of

Alexander Malashenko

February 12, 1938 -  May 18, 2023

Alexander Malashenko died suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack on May 18, 2023. Our immediate sense of loss and sadness is testimony to how integral he was to our daily lives and how much he helped us every single day. A quick phone call and our self-proclaimed, “fireman” was on his way to help.

“Alex,” “Sasha,” “Papa,” “Dedi” was devoted to family and was grateful for his rich and meaningful life. His incredible sense of humour kept him eternally positive and young at heart.

A great researcher and inventor, Alex possessed many patents in the Pulp and Paper industry and really loved his work and friends as an engineer with Dominion Engineering, Valmet and then Metso. A lover of Classical music, Alex was himself ridiculously talented and kept many a party going into the early morning with his piano and accordion playing.

An active and dedicated grandfather, he burst with pride at everything and anything Katia and Alexei did. They brought him tremendous light and joy. Papa also gave his 3 children unconditional love and support in everything and anything they ever did. He deeply loved his own father, mother and brother and told amazing stories of his life as a schoolboy and young man. He always talked of his friends with great affection and loved laughing about crazy things with his only niece. Alex deeply appreciated everything his wife Camilla did for the family throughout their many years together and apart. His life was rich and full and he never took any of it for granted.

Papa, you are forever the light and love in our hearts and we will keep the party going for you.
