Alexander Fodor

June 10, 1930 - May 20, 2021

Alexander (Sándor) Fodor, 90, died on May 20, 2021, in Montreal.

Born on June 10, 1930 in Hungary, Alexander attended the University of Leningrad, and, after arriving in Canada in 1957, earned a Ph.D. from Université de Montréal. In 1963, he married Ottilie Douglas and they raised two children during their marriage of 30 years. He taught Russian literature at McGill University until he retired to his farm in the Eastern Townships in 1993, where he pursued an eclectic range of interests, including apiculture and short story writing.

Alexander is survived by his partner of 26 years, Aniko Deczky Hill, his children Nicholas and Caroline, and his granddaughter Lola.

A memorial service will be held in the fall.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Montreal.
