Zygmunt (Ziggy) Karas

Laval Québec - Zygmunt (Ziggy) Karas, 93 died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Cité de la Santé hospital following a sudden illness.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Hildegarde Danch, his sons, Robert Karas, his wife Nancy McIntyre-Karas and Ronald Karas, his wife Sylvie Lavoie; his grandchildren Mathew, Justin, Amanda and Sean; his niece Roma Baran.
Born and raised in Przemysl, Poland, the son of Joseph and Helena, he immigrated to Canada in 1951.
He was a decorated World War II veteran, motorcycle enthusiast, figure skater, an avid amateur radio operator, a gifted craftsman and a valued and celebrated employee, who held positions of increasing responsibility throughout his 36 year career at Canadair. However, his greatest accomplishment was the love and wisdom he demonstrated to his family, friends, colleagues and his community.
