Godber, H. Susan (Racey)

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Sue Godber.

Born in Montreal on Feb 8, 1934; died on July 16, 2017 in Montreal peacefully, surrounded by her two loving sons. She was the sister of Margaret (Racey) and sister-in-law to William Stavert, daughter of the late John Racey and the late Elza Racey (nee Hutchison), beloved wife of the late Jim Godber (2015), her husband of 58 years; mother of John (Christine Smith) of Westmount, QC,Tom (Mary Gallery) of Knowlton QC, and the late Peter (2008) of Magog QC, and grandmother “Nana Sue” of Tim, Phillippe, Jake, Marc and Andrea.

Sue was a loving mother, sister to Marg and Aunt to Robbie, Wendy, Suzie and Martha. Those who knew Sue well will remember her as a caring and giving person, rich with many long standing friends, fun loving and always seeing the good in others. She loved her skiing, golfing and time with her grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud.

Tom and John wish to extend their sincere thanks to Shawnie, who for the last 4 years has been their mother’s compassionate companion and caregiver and made Sue’s final years comfortable and peaceful. The family is also very grateful to Josie and Ruth and the CLSC Care Team in Verdun under the direction of Ioana Herta for their invaluable support in allowing Sue to remain at home in her final years.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on August 10th at 10:00 AM at The Church of Saint Andrew and St Paul, 3415 Redpath St, Montreal, QC, Tel: (514) 842-3431. www.standrewstpaul.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Parkinson Canada (www.parkinson.ca) would be appreciated.
