In Celebration of

Stella Turchyn nee Kuziomko

July 3, 1949 -  January 1, 2023

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Stella Suzan Turchyn on January 1, 2023 at the age of 73.

Stella was born in Jankowicze, Poland and immigrated to Canada with her family when she was 6 years old. She was a graduate of McGill University’s Education program. She began her 35 year teaching career with M.C.S.C. and retired from Lester B. Pearson School Board. Stella loved working with children and her students adored her. Stella had many interests. She enjoyed spending hours in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills, particularly for her chocolate birthday cakes, pecan pies and strawberry shortcakes. Stella was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with her group of girlfriends as well as her husband whenever an opportunity arose. Stella was an enthusiastic reader and loved discussing books with members of her book club. She loved to travel and would immerse herself in the history and culture of the places she visited. Stella was always ready to listen to others without judgment and with an open mind. She saw the beauty in people and the world around her. She was so loved and cherished by her sisters and brother. Being surrounded by her family meant the world to her. Stella loved to laugh and embraced life to the fullest.

Stella was the beloved wife of Walter Turchyn. She was predeceased by her parents Wincenty Kuziomko and Magdalena Kosciukiewicz. Stella will be dearly missed by her sisters Mary (John), Kirkland, QC and Helen (Matt), Housatonic, Massachusetts and her brother Frank (Janet), Porter’s Lake, NS.

Stella was a cherished aunt to Lisa (Rich), Halifax, NS, Geoffrey (Flora) Hillsborough, CA, Jennifer (Graham), Brooklyn, NY, Julie (Pasquale) Pierrefonds, QC and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Stella’s family will receive condolences at Belvedere Funeral Complex, 22025 Trans-Canada Highway, Senneville, Qc, H9X 0B2, 514 457-4440 on Tuesday, January 10, 2:00pm - 5:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.

A funeral service will be held at St. Edmund of Canterbury Parish, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd, Beaconsfield on Wednesday, January 11 at 11;00am. A reception will be held at Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex following the service.
