À Montréal, le 8 janvier 2017, à l’âge de 96 ans, est décédé le docteur Sorin Sonea, professeur émérite à l’Université de Montréal.

Il fut précédé par son épouse Rodica Vlad-Sonea. Il laisse dans le deuil ses 4 enfants : Ioana (Chris Brown), Peter (Joan Morishita), Michael (Andrée Letendre), Alexandre (Marie Parent), ainsi que ses 6 petits-enfants : Phillip, Étienne, Andrew, Justin, Aurélie et Thomas.

La famille recevra les témoignages d’amitié ce samedi 21 janvier 2017 de 14h00 à 17h00 au

Dr. Sorin Sonea, Professor Emeritus, Université de Montréal, died peacefully in Montreal at the age of 96.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rodica (Vlad) Sonea; he is survived by his children: Ioana (Christopher Brown), Peter (Joan Morishita), Michael (Andrée Letendre), Alexander (Marie Parent) and 6 grandchildren: Phillip, Etienne, Andrew, Justin, Aurélie and Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2017, from 2 pm to 5pm, followed by a short ceremony at 5pm at the

I started to take care of M. Sonea since July 2016. He recounted me about his career in France and about his sons.It was a honour to assist in his basic needs.

Hi Ioana (or Marie-Jeanne): you may remember me from our years at College Marie de France (graduation year 1969). We were in the same class from 1963 to 1966 then you chose the voie scientifique and I took the section lettres. I was sorry to year of your loss. I am still living in Montreal and working for a neurosurgeon at the Montreal Neurological Hospital. Via Corina Lupu (who looked after my numerous budgie birds) I heard that you are a horse veterinarian in Iowa. I lost my mother very early and my father passed away in November 2009 (generalized cancer due to asbestos at place of work). Monika Malecka

Hi Ioana (Marie-Jeanne) we were together at CMF from 1`963 to 1967 then you went into the section sciences and i went to lettres. We graduated in 1969. I still live in Montreal and work at the Montreal Neurological Hospital for a neurosurgeon. I lost my mother in 1986 and my father passed away in November 2009 from lung ca brought on by asbestos. I heard from Corina Lupu that you are a horse veterinarian in Iowa. My condolences to you and your family at this difficult time.

Bonjour,
Je suis professeure agrégée dans le département que le Dr Sorin Sonea a fondé à l'Université de Montréal. Je suis moi aussi d'origine Roumaine. En arrivant à Montréal il y a dix ans, j'ai toujours pensé important de pouvoir rencontrer un jour Dr Sonea. Maintenant il est trop tard. Je regrette ne pas avoir eu cette chance. Je garderai en mémoire son travail et son engagement professionnel. Il peut être fière de son héritage. Je prie que son âme soit en paix maintenant!
