In Celebration of

Sarah Hamilton

November 10, 1938 -  February 21, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sarah (Sadie) Bassett (nee Hamilton), who peacefully departed this life on February 21st, 2023, at Hopital Anna-Laberge in Chateauguay, Quebec. Sarah was born on November 10th, 1938, in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, to Jemema and Edward Hamilton. Sarah was married to her loving husband, Gerald Bassett, on November 15th, 1958, in Montreal. Together, they raised four sons - Darren, Alan, James, and Eddie - and later welcomed a daughter by affinity, Jenifer. Sarah was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren - Gemma, Sarah, Shane, and Kevin - held a special place in her heart.

Sarah was known for her love of bingo, crochet, and spending time with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Sarah is survived by her living siblings, John and Roberta, and was predeceased by her brother and sisters Eddie, Jean and Margaret.

Many thanks to the healthcare professionals at Hopital Anna-Laberge for the care they provided our mother in her final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sarah’s life will be celebrated at Mount Royal Cemetery and Funeral Complex 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont on March 4th, 2023 from 12pm to 2pm.

I am so sorry for your loss, Sadie was a lovely kind sister, we had such great times growing up together in Greenisland and loved sharing our childhood memories on our phone calls. She left home at such a young age for a new life in Canada but she was always in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss her xx
