In Celebration of

Samuel Hodgson

March 9, 1941 -  February 12, 2023

HODGSON, Samuel Henry passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital aged 81 on February 12, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Sam faced many health challenges over the years and battled them courageously until the very end.

He was happiest at home with his wife and family, and fought hard to stay with us time and time again.

Eventually, God saw how weary Sam was and called him to his heavenly home. Free from his pain and struggles, he leaves to mourn his beloved wife and soulmate, Sandra, his devoted son John (the late Mary Ann) and daughter Janice, his granddaughters Mikaela (Alex Lau) and Marissa as well as his great-grandson Merison. He is also survived by his loving sister Ethel (the late Brian Piercey), his brothers Bob (Janice) and Sid (Cerlin), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Alan Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sam is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude Hodgson.

He spent his entire life in Montreal, having a long and successful career at Canadian National Railway. Thanks to train passes, he was able to take his family on numerous trips across Canada, making lasting memories along the way.

Sam was a Godly man who loved the Lord and served Him faithfully in his local church for many years. Sam adored his family and selflessly gave so much of himself for their well-being. He will be profoundly missed and cherished always, until we meet again.

Visitation will be held on Sat., Feb. 25 from 9-10am at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont, QC, H2V 2P9. A celebration of Sam’s life will take place in the chapel at 10:00am. Reception to follow. Internment private. Contributions in Sam’s memory would be appreciated for St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation (www.stmaryshospitalfoundation.ca). Special thanks to CLSC LaSalle and the Drs, nurses and staff of 5-south, St. Mary’s Hospital.
